Full-Time Bench Jeweller

We are looking for an enthusiastic, practical and responsible individual with a passion for fine jewellery to join our team as a Bench Jeweller in a full-time, permanent position, working five days a week. Our shop opening hours are Monday – Saturday, so the working hours do offer some flexibility.

This role will require you to undertake core bench work, jewellery manufacturing and remodelling. We are currently expanding our workshop to keep up with demand, so you will also be involved in developing new work areas and upgrading our tools and equipment.

Job Description & Person Specification                                                                                        

Key Responsibilities:

  • Core bench work
    Including experience and confidence in ring resizing, repairs, retipping, soldering, cleaning up and assembling castings, rhodium plating, restoration of fine jewellery, and polishing and finishing jewellery to a high standard.
  • Working with precious metals, including silver, gold and platinum and a wide range of fine gemstones and diamonds, while understanding their properties.
  • Work from detailed CAD images and/or technical drawings to produce bespoke designs and remodels.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop and ensuring tools and equipment are well cared for.
  • Adhering to health and safety guidelines.
  • Create costings and detailed records of all materials used and time.
  • Work efficiently to meet deadlines, while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
  • Uphold customer confidentiality.
  • Provide technical advice on repairs and manufacture to colleagues.

You will have a meticulous eye for detail, with good communication and time management skills.

 

Knowledge & Experience                                                                                                                      

Essential

  • At least 2 years’ proven experience in a commercial/retail workshop as a bench jeweller.
  • Confidence and experience working with precious metals, coloured gemstones and diamonds, and high-value pieces.
  • Organisational skills, self-motivation and eager to continuously expand knowledge
  • A team player who can work independently or collaboratively, who can adapt to challenges as they arise and work effectively in a busy environment

Desirable

  • Experience with laser and PUK welding
  • Experience with stone setting
  • Knowledge of modern jewellery-making techniques and tools
