Only watches that meet the exacting requirements of the ISO 6425 standard can officially be called diver's watches. With its numerous functions and safety features, this watch is the ideal companion at all kinds of sports events - and its water resistance has been tested for three hours under water.
Power reserve is the time a fully wound mechanical watch runs until it stops - usually between 38 and 42 hours. The Powermatic 80 calibre makes a power reserve of up to 80 hours possible! So you can leave this watch for up to three days before having to set it anew - if you can do without it for that long...
The historic predecessor and namesake of this watch had the best opportunity to demonstrate its strengths; in 1969, four scientists wore this watch during their two-month research stay at the Tektite I underwater laboratory. They all agreed that the timepiece was an outstanding success!
The beating heart of this model is a Powermatic calibre with an entirely new balance spring made of Nivachron(TM). This innovative material has been developed to increase resistance to magnetic fields. The Swiss-Made balance spring has a titanium base and is therefore exceptionally resistant to temperature variations and incredibly shock-resistant.
The logo of the German diving association VDST has been immortalised on the case back of the DS Super PH500M. Certina hasn't merely alluded to their love of the underwater world with this embellishment - when developing the watch, the Swiss watchmaker called upon the expertise of these passionate divers.
Thanks to the innovative design behind the divers' strap extension, the watch can be comfortably worn over a wetsuit too. Members of the German diving association VDST can also request two additional NATO straps for their watch - one in a standard length and the other in extra long.
